Spleen is one of the common sites for infarction.
CAUSES:

occlusion of splenic artery or its branches (most commonly)
thromboemboli arising in heart (eg.mural thrombi in left atrium ,vegetative endocarditis,myocardial infarction)
obstruction of microcirculation (less frequent)

GROSSLY:
